Beer in Italy

While wine will always maintain top billing as Italy’s drink of choice, the craft brew scene is slowly making up for lost time, bringing high quality beer to the tables of haute cuisine restaurants. This little revolution started about 15 years ago with a handful of small producers located primarily in the north (Trentino-Alto Adige especially) and has since grown to include producers in every region of the country, totaling upwards of 250 microbreweries. Why not have some fun pairing artisanal beer with your favorite Italian dishes this summer? You can also get creative and try basting your roasted chicken with beer. We are brewing some delicious ones in our just opened Birreria on the roof top at Eataly, 23street and 5th Avenue. www.eataly.com
