The Spider: A Great Cooking Utensil

There are a few things I must have nearby when I’m cooking. A sturdy pair of metal tongs, sieves and hand strainers, as well as good, wooden cooking spoons. But for my pasta I always use a spider-the stir fry tool with a wire basket on a long handle-to lift noodles. I keep spiders in several sizes to use as tossers and stirrers. It's the perfect vessel for scooping up and draining pasta before plopping it into your favorite pot of perking sauce.
